Do you need easily accessible, free dementia-specific education for you or the people who work for you?
Dementia Respite Education and Mentoring (DREAM) has been designed to offer a holistic approach to dementia care education – and could be the answer for you.
DREAM is a collaboration between the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre at the University of Tasmania and Dementia Support Australia. It aims to equip the Australian aged care workforce with the tools and knowledge to provide high quality dementia care, whether for a short or longer period.
DREAM has three components:
- Education which includes five short video modules addressing key dementia care topics, plus downloadable infographics and extra resources.
- Coaching – industry experts (from Dementia Support Australia) can provide in-person or virtual tailored assistance to help aged care workers put dementia knowledge into practice.
- Network – an online community to discuss and share ideas with peers and experts
The five key areas covered in DREAM are understanding dementia, getting to know the person, communication and relationship building, understanding and supporting behaviours and planning a successful respite experience.
DREAM is not just for dementia respite care workers, it’s for anyone working with people living with dementia.
DREAM is funded by the Australian Government.
