Healthy North Coast’s Northern NSW Health Literacy Framework 2022-2025 will guide health literacy improvement on the North Coast for the next three years. It builds on the health literacy work we have done in partnership with Northern NSW Local Health District since 2016.
We know that health literacy is essential ‘for all people in Northern NSW to have better health outcomes, care experiences and satisfaction with care’. This is the vision of our framework.
Actions within this framework support improved communication and health policies and processes. The aim is to make health care as accessible and easy to follow as possible.
Support will always be available for people working in primary care wanting to improve health literacy in their service. Contact the Health Literacy Team if you would like help:
- developing health information or education
- planning or implementing a quality improvement project related to health literacy
- improving communication processes
- meeting health literacy related RACGP accreditation criteria
- designing consumer engagement activities
- assessing the health literacy environment of your service
- incorporating health literacy principles into your project work.
