Gold Coast Health is expanding its Specialist Rehabilitation Services with the addition of new ‘rehab spasticity clinics’.
The clinics are for patients aged 18 or older who have clinically significant spasticity because of previous strokes or acquired brain injuries.
The clinics will be held weekly in the Gold Coast University Hospital. Patients will be assessed by a medical specialist who may offer them botox injections and/or further treatment by a multidisciplinary team of allied health providers.
Dr Keanming Wong, a Rehabilitation Medicine SMO, said the new clinics will increase the treatment options for patients in the Gold Coast region. ‘Medical treatment such as Botox will complement the existing treatment options and help to maximize their effectiveness.’
GPs can refer eligible patients by e-mail to: [email protected]
