The National Cancer Screening Register Rules 2017 have recently been amended, with changes to come into effect from 1 December 2018.
The changes are to facilitate the collection of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status, country of origin and the preferred language of individuals, if known, to be reported by colposcopists.
The Colposcopy and Treatment form has been updated to comply with the amended requirements of the National Cancer Screening Register Rules 2017, as well as to introduce improvements to the design and layout to better assist reporting of this important information for the NCSP.
Reporting of this demographic information will allow the NCSP to support the ongoing quality and safety monitoring of cervical screening in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse populations, as well as to inform policy to improve services and education.
