Healthy North Coast welcomes the Federal Government’s confirmation that temporary MBS telehealth items have been extended until 31 March 2021.
This is part of the government’s broader announcement of its national COVID-19 emergency health response being extended for a further six months, which also includes Medicare-subsidised pathology services, GP-led respiratory clinics, home medicines delivery, public and private hospital services, as well as further investments in PPE.
Under the changes, temporary MBS telehealth items will remain available to GPs and other medical practitioners where they have an established clinical relationship with the patient. From October 1:
- GPs and Other Medical Practitioners (OMPs) providing COVID-19 telehealth services are not required to bulk bill their patients.
- Temporary MBS COVID-19 bulk-billing incentive items 10981 (for GPs) and 10982 (for OMPs) have
- The temporary doubling of fees for MBS bulk-billing incentive items 10990, 10991, 10992, 64990, 64991, 74990 and 74991 ceased.
