RArEST has launched an interactive e-learning module for health professionals (including those in training) to learn more about rare disease.
Most health professionals will have patients with conditions they’ve never heard of or who they struggle to diagnose. The new Rare Disease 101 Australia module helps address this by covering common challenges faced by people living with a rare disease and those who care for them.
The eight lessons are available online for free. Topics include diagnosis, advocacy, coordinated care, communication, and mental health and wellbeing.
The module was created with the help of clinicians and people living with a rare disease from across Australia.
Share the module with your colleagues and networks to help them become rare disease champions. Being connected to a knowledgeable, skilled and engaged health professional can be life-changing for a person living with a rare disease.
The Rare Disease Awareness, Education, Support and Training (RArEST) Project is a collaboration between Rare Voices Australia, the University of New South Wales, the University of Western Australia and Macquarie University. It is funded by the Australian Government.
