The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) has been working with software vendors and recently established Communities of Interest (COIs) to test their electronic prescribing solution before a broader national rollout.
COIs are locations involving at least one general practice and a community pharmacy in close proximity who MUST BOTH be ready to prescribe and dispense electronic prescriptions. Anglesea, Victoria, was the first COI to be established and successfully completed Australia’s first token model electronic prescription in primary care on May 6 2020.
You can visit the ADHA website to find out more about the locations of all current COIs.
Take Advantage of the New, Free CPD Accreditation and Get Your Practice or Pharmacy ePrescribing Ready
While the new electronic prescribing token model is currently limited to COIs, all prescribers and dispensers are being encouraged to enrol in the CPD Accredited free eLearning courses.
The courses provide an overview of electronic prescriptions and will increase your awareness of how to use them within your daily workflow.
