Well-respected drug and alcohol and mental health treatment organisation The Buttery is hosting two free information events for health professionals at Kingscliff and Ballina during October.
“The range and scope of the programs The Buttery offers has grown considerably in recent years and the purpose of these events is to bring local psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists and other health professionals up to date with developments,” said Buttery CEO, Leone Crayden.
The Buttery specialises in the prevention, treatment and aftercare of young people and adults affected by mental health, substance use disorder and gambling issues. Last year more than 2,300 people took part in a Buttery community-based program. More than 100 people took part in a Buttery residential program.
In 2017, The Buttery established a user pays residential alcohol and other drug mental health wellbeing program near Murwillumbah called The Buttery Private. It operates as a social enterprise. Surplus funds generated by the program are applied to The Buttery’s charitable programs.
The Buttery Private program is based on The Buttery’s long-established residential treatment model, a therapeutic community. It is an evidence-based intensive closed group program for non-acute mental health issues and substance and behavioural addictions.
The information dinners will include presentations by psychologists, nurses and allied health professionals from the Buttery and The Buttery Private outlining the full range of its innovative programs. This includes the Buttery’s three residential programs and its 11 community-based programs.
Events will be held at:
- Peppers Kingscliff on Tuesday 15 October 2019
- Ramada Hotel in Ballina on Thursday 17 October 2019
(Both events will feature the same content.)
Attendance is free for local health professionals, however bookings are essential as places are limited.
