Introducing Primary Care Impact

A new space for QI, sharing ideas and successes

We want to introduce a new section of our website: Primary Care Impact

Primary Care Impact is a central point of resources and information for quality improvement and primary care projects. It is designed to make planning and delivering quality improvement more efficient for busy primary care providers and more effective (sustainable) in the long term.

It is also an interactive space where practices can share their ideas and successes with us and with each other.

COVID-19 primary care quality improvements seen across the North Coast

We have witnessed no end of ingenuity and perseverance from practice staff determined to help primary care adapt to this stressful and challenging time. The planning and delivery of primary care quality improvements in response to COVID-19 has been collaborative, collegial and creative.

For example, all practices would have made recent quality improvements relating to:

• Influenza immunisation during COVID-19
• Increasing patient and staff safety during COVID-19

Because you have already completed these QI activities during COVID-19, we invite you to visit these pages and let us know you are working on this QI (so we can share some ideas with you), or even upload your PDSAs in one of the three “Let us know your progress” buttons at the bottom of each page.

Make sure you check out the resources in the influenza immunisation topic:

• Regional progress chart showing number of influenza vaccines administered (year-on-year). This will be updated throughout May and June so we can see how we are going as a region.
• Improvement ideas from across the footprint.
• Local practice videos filmed in April 2020 showing teamwork and planning in action.

Your local success stories – another way to share your improvement ideas

We want to help you celebrate your QI learnings and achievements, plus share your ideas with other practices. On each Primary Care Impact page there’s a button – Your local success stories.

Continuing care during COVID-19

As you know, we are not out of the woods yet.

Our chronic disease care planning via telehealth activity, example workflow and example PDSA should prove useful.

You’ll find a broad range of resources that have been collated from different sources, tips and ideas to help you turn the focus to chronic disease care planning, maximise the opportunities for video consults and protect business viability going forward. All of this is quality improvement.

Primary Care Impact – just the beginning
