The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has released clinical advice on administration of seasonal influenza vaccines for 2023.
Key points:
- Annual vaccination is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications.
- Annual vaccination is recommended each year for everyone aged six months and older.
- Influenza vaccines can be co-administered (given on the same day) as any COVID-19 vaccine.
- If a person had a 2022 influenza vaccine in late 2022 or early 2023, they are still recommended to receive a 2023 influenza vaccine when it becomes available.
For more information refer to ATAGI Statement on the administration of seasonal influenza vaccines in 2023 and NSW Health – Seasonal influenza vaccination 2023.
