The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has released clinical advice on season influenza vaccines for 2022.
Key points
- Vaccination is recommended each season for everyone aged 6 months and older.
- Influenza vaccine and a dose of COVID-19 vaccine can be administered on the same day.
- As international borders open, seasonal influenza virus may start to re-emerge and circulate in Australia.
- If a person has had the 2021 influenza vaccine in late 2021 or early 2022, they should still have the 2022 influenza vaccine when it becomes available.
- National Immunisation Program (government funded) vaccines can be ordered through the NSW Vaccine Centre from 7 March 2022, please note:
- only order the amount of vaccines you expect to use in a maximum 4-week period
- there is plenty of stock available and you can make additional orders.
