Mental health and wellbeing among nurses and midwives is a major public health issue, which has been exacerbated by the impacts of COVID-19.
Having a healthy, highly functioning workforce is the key determinant of a good healthcare service (and therefore benefits the health of everyone in NSW).
However, there is a critical lack of services provided to nurses and midwives to support and promote their mental health.
Black Dog Institute is embarking on a project to gain an understanding of prevalence and risk factors of mental health for nurses and midwives in NSW and provide evidence-based interventions to promote mental health that are tailored to workers in this industry.
As an initial step, they are undertaking a NSW-wide longitudinal survey looking at the mental health and wellbeing of nurses and midwives.
