Healthy Towns Woolgoolga: April Update

Many projects are currently underway for Healthy Towns in Woolgoolga, with plans for future projects and events progressing smoothly.

Woopi Garden & Nutrition Project

The Woopi Garden & Nutrition Project had its final co-design meeting in March and the design of the workshops has been finalised. The gardens are currently under construction to add additional infrastructure and facilities, which is due to finish at the end of the month. The gardening, cooking and nutrition workshops are due to commence in July/August 2019.

Woolgoolga Interagency Meeting

The Woolgoolga Interagency Group met on Monday 1st April 2019. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the first Monday from 2pm-3:30pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday 3rd June 2019. To RSVP please email [email protected].

Everbetter Bunch – Men’s Social Connection Program

The Everbetter Bunch Men’s Group is going well with eight consistent participants attending bi-weekly training sessions with Personal Trainer Marty Symmons at Nexus Gym.

The group also meet for coffee catch ups, attending local community groups such as Fluro Friday and have guest speakers share information and knowledge. The next upcoming guest speaker is a Nutrition session with Dietitian Katie Drury from Mid North Coast Physio.

For more information, please contact program coordinator Marty Symmons at [email protected] or phone 0407 307 910.

Indian Men’s Physical Activity Program

The Indian men’s physical activity program has 12 participants attending bi-weekly exercise classes at Woolgoolga Personal Training each week for 12 weeks.

The program is aimed at Indian men over 45 years of age in the Woolgoolga community, particularly those at risk of lifestyle-related chronic disease including heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

The first program block is coming to an end in April and registrations are currently open for the next block, due to start in May 2019.

For more information please contact program coordinator Simon Peutrill at [email protected] or 0418 319 929.

Healthy Towns Expo and Month

The Healthy Towns Expo will be held on the 1st of May 2019 to kick off Healthy Towns Month. The month will include an expo as well as a month-long range of health and wellbeing events, information and education sessions.

The Woolgoolga Chamber of Commerce will be coordinating this event, and are hoping it will be an annual event in Woopi.

For more information about how your organisation or business can get involved, please contact program coordinator Lisa Nichols at [email protected].

Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre Website

Healthy Towns is supporting the Woopi Neighbourhood Centre to design a website that will help to inform the community about services and programs available at the centre. The website will also outline the whole of community services and programs available and how to access these.

The first design meeting was held in March and the website is currently being developed by Giant Media with input from the Manager of the Neighbourhood Centre, Rashmere Bhatti.

The website will be linked to the Chamber of Commerce website calendar to help with awareness of community services and activities.

Update provided 21 April 2022.

As you know, Lismore Skin Clinic in Molesworth Street was destroyed in the recent floods, and we are trying to rebuild the site as soon as we can.

In the meantime we will be moving to St Vincent’s Hospital Specialist Medical Centre – Level 4, Suite 12 – 20 Dalley Street Lismore.

We hope to be up and running in the next two weeks (by early to mid May 2022) and our receptionists will soon begin calling our patients to rebook their appointments and catch up with their needs.

Once we have a firm opening date we will update this notification.

Our email address – [email protected] and our phone number – 02 6621 3500 will remain the same as in the past. Only the address changes for a while.

We look forward to seeing you soon in our new premises.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding in these heartbreaking times – stay safe.

No, the directory is a free service provided by Healthy North Coast.

This directory enables you to provide real-time information about your availability to accept referrals, as well as how long people may have to wait for an appointment. You can indicate wait times for an appointment for a new client or that you are currently unable to accept new referrals. You can also choose whether to display or hide your contact details. You can update your choices at any time.

Yes, you can update your listing or remove it at any time by clicking the “update practitioner details” button on your listing. You will receive a secure website link to your nominated admin email that will enable you to make changes, delete or put your listing on hold. You can also show when you are taking extended leave or are not available for a specific period, rather than completely removing your listing.

We will also send you an email every three months (90 days) prompting you to check that your information is up to date.
