The Local Specialists and Health Services page on Mid and North Coast HealthPathways is one of the most popular on the platform, averaging around 1,300 users per month.
Recently, the team has made significant updates to this directory to better serve healthcare professionals by streamlining access to information on local specialists and health services.
One of the major changes in the directory is the restructuring of how information is presented. The new format introduces dropdown menus, allowing users to quickly navigate to the specific service they are looking for, such as medical or surgical specialists, alcohol and other drugs, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
Another key update is the expansion of the directory’s content. The new version includes more comprehensive hospital contact information, including quick contact numbers for services like medical imaging, medical records, and pre-admission clinics. Feedback from general practitioners (GPs) indicated that these additions would be particularly useful in their day-to-day practice, enabling them to quickly connect with relevant departments.
In addition to adding more services, the HealthPathways team has also conducted a thorough review of the existing listings. Over the past month, 56 services have been reviewed to ensure that the information is accurate and relevant. This review process is ongoing, with regular updates and revisions made as necessary.
What sets the HealthPathways directory apart is its localised and specialised content. It includes links to referral forms specific to the services listed, criteria and exclusions for referrals, and details on any special interests or additional requirements that specialists may have. This tailored approach ensures that healthcare professionals have all the necessary information to make appropriate referrals within their local area.
The directory also provides a comprehensive listing of both public and private specialists in the region, including paediatricians and community health services. This makes it an exhaustive resource for finding local health services.
