August brings on a new intake of GP registrars – welcome to the North Coast!
HealthPathways is an excellent resource co-funded by Healthy North Coast and Northern NSW and Mid North Coast Local Health Districts. The pathways are particularly useful for GP registrars who need to look up how to manage tricky presentations, and know where to refer locally. Pathways are also a fantastic resource for GP supervisors to utilise in teaching sessions, or for GPs who just need to look things up from time to time.
Here are some useful pathways for new GPs to have on-hand when starting out in the consulting room:

► The Mental Health and Addiction suite of pathways, including suicide ideation, eating disorders in adults and medical practitioner mental wellbeing.
► Return to Work pathways for workers compensation presentations.
► National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) pathway.
► Summary of Referrals page – for all the contact details about who to refer to within your region, whether in the public or private system.
► Chronic Diseases Management Items and action plans – to help prepare for management plan consultations.
