The GP Psychiatry Support Line is a free service to help North Coast GPs manage the mental health care of patients.
The line connects GPs with Australian psychiatrists who can provide advice on mental health treatment.
This is not a clinical triage or referral service. This free consultancy for GPs aims to help keep consumers under the care of their regular doctor.
In the first year of operation (2019–2020), 96 per cent of calls to the line were about medication. A survey of users reported a high level of satisfaction with the advice.
