The COVID-19 suite of HealthPathways has been developed and expanded over the last 18 months with clinical governance and support from NSW Health, ATAGI, Mid North Coast Local Health District clinicians, Northern NSW Local Health District clinicians and Healthy North Coast.
HealthPathways teams review changes in COVID-19 policy and clinical guidance daily to ensure the pathways are kept up to date and can be relied upon by GPs and other primary care providers as the pandemic progresses.
HealthPathways Clinical Editor Dr Sarah Mollard said, ‘The amount of cooperation across the state has been unprecedented. This has allowed us to achieve the difficult task of sifting through the constant stream of COVID-19 communications to find the information GPs need most at the point of care.
‘In my clinical practice, I find the COVID-19 MBS Items and COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure pages the most useful – it’s great to have a quick and easy way to find information about a patient’s specific circumstances on my desktop.’
Important recent changes include:
- updating the COVID-19 Ongoing Assessment and Management pathway to reflect changes in LHD processes and ACI guidelines for managing COVID-19 positive patients during the Delta outbreak
- release of a new pathway with guidance on primary care investigation and management of patients with symptoms of COVID-19 Vaccine-induced Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS)
- ongoing updates to the COVID-19 vaccination pathways. As the vaccination program is now well established, the ‘Preparation for COVID-19 Vaccination’ pathway was recently removed from the site. This content has been merged with the COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure pathway.
- inclusion of a list of local practices undertaking Pfizer vaccination on the COVID-19 Referrals page.
Mid and North Coast HealthPathways is now used by more than 1,800 people per month across more than 700 clinical management and referral pathways.
