Bellingen-based OzGreen is partnering with Healthy North Coast to launch a free Online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course on April 17.
Registrations are still being accepted and there are a limited number of places available.
The course is an eight-week evidence-based, experiential program, running on Mondays from 3:30pm – 6:00pm. It is designed to provide participants with intensive and systematic training in mindfulness, meditation and movement practices.
The course aims to integrate into participants daily lives what is discovered and learned through the process of participating in the program, building inner steadiness and balance.
Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction (MBSR) is based on ancient contemplative practices integrated with western medical approaches by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979.
MBSR has been researched over 40 years and consistently delivers positive outcomes associated with increased self-awareness and emotional and attentional regulation. In addition, outcomes have included reductions in symptoms for various physical and behavioural health conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, and hypertension.
The course facilitators are Jude Baderle and Lisa Brown. Jude is a somatic therapist, a mindfulness-based Hakomi therapy graduate, internal family systems practitioner, mindfulness-based stress reduction teacher, life coach and visual artist. Her teachings emphasis a non-traditional creative approach, particularly using nature and the arts as a path to support people to find their unique means of expression.
Lisa is a registered psychologist, yoga teacher, certified MBSR teacher and trained mindful self-compassion teacher. She has been practising yoga and meditation for 20 years and is a lover of poetry and wandering mindfully over headlands on Gumbaynggirr country.
