Comcare have published a new resource to assist GPs to assess a patient’s functional capacity for work, downloadable as a PDF. General practitioners play a key role in facilitating work participation for their patients and this new one-page resource is designed to assist GPs to assess their patients’ functional capacity for work. Enabling patients to participate in good work while they recover often results in better health and wellbeing outcomes.
Evidence-based assessment should consider both physical and psychological functions and focus on what the person can do, not what they can’t do. This guide will help GPs to perform psychological assessments of capacity for work and make recommendations for reasonable adjustments to support performance of work duties.
