Over the past four weeks, Healthy North Coast hosted the latest round of regional clinical societies. Events were held in Lennox Head, Kingscliff, Grafton, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Macksville, Frederickton and Port Macquarie.
Attendance numbers were great, with 240 North Coast clinicians attending.
Thank you to all who attended, engaged in the speaker presentations and provided feedback on the draft Healthy North Coast CPD calendar for 2022.
Attending your local clinical society event is a great way to embed yourself in your local community of health practitioners. Each event invited like-minded colleagues to come together over dinner and network while taking part in learning and development.
This latest round was a little different to what you can expect at future events, with the clinical education component being shorter than the usual 90-minute delivery. We combined both education and group work to flesh out the CPD activities Healthy North Coast will be delivering in 2022.
Your feedback is invaluable when planning future education. We’re pleased to say we’ve already started to action some of your ideas and recommendations.
CPD has never looked so localised!
‘It was great to be able to catch up and meet in person with our local GP, specialist, nursing and allied health colleagues again and to welcome and hear from our newest local specialist and vascular surgeon,’ said Dr Adrian Gilliland, a Coffs Harbour general practitioner who attended the Coffs Harbour event on 17 November.
‘Local clinical society education is unique in allowing multiple clinical disciplines to meet and learn from each other, building local referral pathways and relationships so that we can all work together for the benefit of our patients.
‘I am looking forward to more events like this, where we can share local knowledge and learn from our local experts.’
Janelle Ussher is a registered nurse who attended three of the eight regional clinical societies – Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Macksville.
‘I found these events available in my local area only recently and I learnt so much. The speakers were informative, it was great to connect with other clinicians face to face, and the venues and catering were gratefully received,’ Janelle said.
What happens next?
The Healthy North Coast Education Team will take the information received at the clinical society events and use this to finalise the Healthy North Coast CPD calendar for 2022. We hope to share this with you early in the new year.
Suggestions will be considered and added where possible to the draft calendar that was presented at the events. Topics for the February round of regional clinical society events (mental health and AOD theme) will be locked in and shared with all society members soon.
