On Saturday 31 May 2025, around 100 health professionals gathered on Gumbaynggirr Country at Pacific Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour, for the Chronic and Complex Care Forum 2025 – a full-day event focused on strengthening the region’s capacity to manage chronic and complex health conditions.
The event brought together general practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and pharmacists to explore innovative, evidence-based approaches to delivering person-centred, integrated care.
The Forum’s agenda featured a diverse and practical mix of profession-specific sessions and case-based discussions, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in chronic and complex care.
Topics included care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, care at the end of life, care for addiction, care for obesity, gender-affirming care, and strategies for preventing clinician burnout.
Attendees also explored multidisciplinary approaches to managing chronic respiratory disease, diabetic care, and the benefits of in-reach case conferencing – equipping participants with actionable insights to enhance care across the region.
The atmosphere was energised and optimistic. Many participants described it as one of the best educational events they had attended. Post-event evaluations echoed this sentiment:
- 100% of attendees said they would recommend the event to a colleague.
- 94% reported learning something that would change their clinical practice.
These results highlight the relevance and quality of the sessions delivered.
