The Mid North Coast Local Heath District (MNCLHD) is running ‘Care in the Community’ (CiC) – an outpatient program for people with acute respiratory infections.
CiC supports the management and monitoring of patients through virtual care delivered via telehealth. The program aims to assist people living in the Mid North Coast region who are experiencing COVID-19 and flu-like symptoms such as:
- fever and chills
- cough, sore throat and runny or stuffy nose
- muscle aches, joint pains, headaches, tiredness
- nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
CiC is a collaborative, community-based, multidisciplinary service. It uses telehealth for early assessment and intervention of patients who are at risk of presenting to hospital.
CiC is currently targeting people with acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, who are unable to access a timely GP appointment or may require more intensive, time-limited clinical intervention and monitoring.
The CiC team consists of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who can provide:
- prompt health assessments with clinicians
- prescriptions
- medical certificates
- short-term monitoring, support and referrals.
If you live on the Mid North Coast, are suffering from cold or flu-like illness and would like expert health advice, call CiC on 6589 2515 between 8:00am-4:30pm seven days a week.
Health professionals can refer patients to Care in the Community for assessment if they are:
- residents of the MNCLHD or temporarily live within the area
- experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of acute respiratory infection.
To refer, either telephone 6589 2515 or complete a CiC referral form and send to [email protected].
Patients who are referred will be prioritised based on high clinical need that cannot be self-managed or managed by their GP.
