From 21 January 2022, NSW residents can access a COVID-19 vaccine booster jab at state-run clinics three months after their second dose. For locations, see this list of NSW Health vaccination clinics.
The interval for booster doses at general practices and pharmacies will remain at 4 months until 31 January 2022.
Bookings will become available over coming weeks, dependent on supply, strength of demand and staff availability due to COVID-19 isolating requirements.
The booster dose helps make sure the protection from the first and second dose is stronger and longer lasting.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are recommended as boosters in Australia.
People are eligible for a booster vaccination if they:
- have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- are aged 18 years and over
- received the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 3 months ago.
To check eligibility for a booster, people should visit their vaccination record on myGov or use the MyHealthRecord app to see when their second dose was.
People need to take proof of vaccination for dose 1 and 2 to their booster appointment. Accepted proof includes a COVID-19 certificate or immunisation record.
Use the Vaccine Clinic Finder to book a booster shot.
