A face-to-face learning opportunity, the Gwandalan Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Palliative Care Workshop will be held in Coffs Harbour on 18 May from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
First Nations health experts and palliative care leaders will help participants expand their understanding of palliative care services for First Nations communities, enhancing the reach and effectiveness of these services.
The workshop is one of a series being held throughout Australia by Australian General Practice Accreditation Ltd. It follows on from a webinar series and online modules that include an Introduction to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Palliative Care and Cultural Practice.
Participant numbers are limited to 20. Workshop organisers are unable to offer financial support for travel. The workshop is recommended for those who:
- have experience or interest in palliative care and want to increase their capabilities to deliver culturally safe services for First Nations communities; or
- are a First Nations health worker looking to increase their understanding of local palliative care services.
Workshops will be tailored to participants in each location and delivered in a culturally safe manner with appropriate content for First Nations communities.
