Healthy North Coast held an ageing and end-of-life workshop on 12 October in Ballina, attended by members of the public, as well as ageing and palliative care sector employees.
This is the first of two workshops to explore journeys in ageing and end-of-life, with the second one to be held in Coffs Harbour in early November.
Facilitators from Social Ventures Australia obtained a wide range of participants’ insights on specific issues relating to ageing and end-of-life in our region. The day proved very productive with participants sharing information and experiences.
Early findings focused on normalising ageing and dying. For the health workers in the room, a strong theme was the need to break down the barriers to more integrated services across jurisdictions.
The Ageing and Palliative Care teams are now working with Social Ventures Australia to extract data that will be used for several projects in this field. Feedback will be incorporated into a needs analysis to support the design and implementation of activities to improve ageing and end-of-life journeys for our community.
