The Department of Health and Aged Care’s Workforce Incentive Program – Practice Stream (WIP – PS) provides financial incentives of up to $130,000 per practice per year to help eligible general practices with the cost of engaging nurses, allied health professionals, and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners and health workers.
Through the October 2022 Budget, the Government announced a range of measures, including an extension to the list of health professional types that are eligible under the WIP-PS.
Midwives and paramedics are now eligible under the WIP-PS.
From the quarter starting 1 November 2023, eligible practices are able to include hours worked by midwives and paramedics in their claim. The first payments including these new health professionals will be made in February 2024.
The revised WIP Practice Stream guidelines can be found through the program tiles on the Department of Health and Aged Care’s website.
