After six years as Chief Executive of the North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) and its previous incarnation, North Coast Medicare Local, Dr Vahid Saberi is leaving the organisation on 2 February 2018 to pursue other professional opportunities.
Dr Saberi said it was the right time for him to depart, as NCPHN was in a period of consolidation after years of expansion and change.
“Last year we were involved in a large number of new projects, and this year all of this work to improve the health of the North Coast residents will be bedded down. It’s a good period for a change of leadership.
“Although I have to say that I leave NCPHN with very mixed feelings as I have played a big part in building this organisation. But I leave knowing that we have a strong Board and committed staff who will take NCPHN forward with the values required to best serve the community.”
NCPHN’s Board Chairman Dr Tony Lembke congratulated Dr Saberi on his achievements in the role of Chief Executive.
“Vahid was the first CEO of the North Coast Medicare Local which became the North Coast Primary Health Network. He took on the role of establishing a new organisation with much enthusiasm, clear vision and a methodical approach.
“He had the challenging task of steering the organisation during six years of incessant and relentless change. This required innovation, drive and the development of new partnerships and organisational systems, and he undertook this role with optimism and energy.”
NCPHN’s Director, Systems and Services Integration, Ms Sharyn White, will act in the position of Chief Executive until a new CEO is recruited.
Dr Lembke said it would be ‘business as usual’ at NCPHN.
“Sharyn brings extensive experience to the role as she has been with the organisation from its beginnings. She will ensure the organisation moves forward confidently to meet its strategic goals as we make the transition to the next CEO.
“She has a deep understanding of the context and the breadth of the work of NCPHN,” he added.
The Board of Directors will undertake a nation-wide recruitment process to select a new Chief Executive.
