North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) is pleased to announce that it has provided Commonwealth funding of $380,000 over two years to assist the management and activities of the Tweed/Byron Local Suicide Prevention Steering Committee.
In order to help meet identified mental health needs in the region, NCPHN is keen to assist in developing local suicide prevention activities.
These include finalising the development of a Local Suicide Prevention Action Plan and implementing the strategies outlined in the Plan. These strategies are aimed to reduce the prevalence of suicide in the Tweed and Byron LGA communities.
In order to make progress in developing the Action Plan, the committee is holding a workshop at the Family Centre in Tweed Heads on Friday 7 December 2018.
The Family Centre’s Coordinator Carmen Stewart said input from GPs and other interested health professionals, those who have recovered after a suicide attempt, and people who have lost someone close to them through suicide would be very welcome.
If you are interested in attending the workshop, call Carmen Stewart on 0400 007 831 and if you have ideas or suggestions, but can’t attend, please send them to: carmens@thefamilycentre.org.au
