The bushfires of 2019-20 hit the Nambucca Valley hard, with thousands of hectares burnt and many people losing everything – their homes, animals, crops and income.
On 14 February 2021, the Bowraville Lions Club hosted ‘Bowra’s Big Bash’, a family friendly musical event promoting resilience, social connection and recovery in the local community.
Attractions included markets, a rock/country/blues concert, petting zoo and kids rides, food stores plus much more.
The Bowraville Lions Club organised the day, which was their major fundraising event for 2021. Funds raised will be put towards a new fire truck for the Fire and Rescue 235 Bowraville Station.
This grant was funded through the North Coast PHN Program and the Australian Government’s ‘Supporting Communities in Bushfire Recovery’ initiative.
