Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation will employ Aboriginal Health Workers as Youth Engagement workers, to be based in each of the three Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Clinics (Grafton, Casino and Tweed Heads). The Youth Engagement Workers will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to connect clients to the services they need to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
In addition, the project will include the delivery of contracted mental health training to build the knowledge and understanding among the community and clinical gatekeepers and front-line staff in identifying and responding appropriately to people with mental health issues or who are at risk of self-harm or suicide.
