Maria Clinic is a purpose-built practice in a beautiful town in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Maria Clinic Casino has been established for over 10 years has a good established patient base and professional rooms that can accommodate 6 GPs plus allied health and pathology. Maria Clinic is fully accredited, committed to bringing comprehensive quality care to their patients. The practice currently has 6 general practitioners, along with two registered practice nurses and full reception support. Mixed billing, friendly team, fully computerised. Position is to replace a leaving GP with full patient load.
Maria Clinic is located in the rural northern NSW town of Casino. Often regarded as the Beef Capital of NSW, a good feed is never far away. It is surrounded by beautiful beef and dairy farms. As well as national parks. The Richmond River runs through the centre of the town with platypus regularly seen. Located only 30km from Lismore, 45 minutes to the nearest beach, 140km to the Gold Coast and 75km to Byron Bay, so opportunities are endless. A town of 12,000 people with an outlying rural population of 16-18,000. Only 20 minutes to the Lismore Base Hospital and specialist suites.
Looking for a vocationally registered/generally registered full-time/part-time GP to replace a doctor with full patient load.
DPA area.
PEP/ MDRAP eligible candidates are welcome. Good opportunity for generally registered doctors to enrol RLRP or ACRRM.
Mentorship possible for the right candidates.
Computerised, fully accredited practice with mixed billing, practice nurse, VMO position possible in Casino/Lismore Base Hospital (optional).
Opening hours are between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
No public holidays or Sunday work.
Maria Clinic is a family medical practice providing comprehensive medical care to the Richmond valley community. Most of the patients are elderly. This role requires all aspects of care including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, networking with local health agencies, telehealth, CVC program, CTG program and care plans.
Clinical requirements of this role
• Emergency: basic life support, removal of foreign bodies from eye-ear-nose, burn management.
• General practice skills: IV infusions, immunisation, suturing, ECG interpretation
• Treat and diagnose medical illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, asthma, gastroenteritis, epilepsy, heart disease, chronic ulcers, carcinoma and undertake medical assessment, care plans
• Work cover management, reports
• Surgery: taking patient history, physical examination, stitching and minor surgical services, e.g. suture of superficial and deep lacerations, cryotherapy, incision and drainage of abscess, excision of skin lesions
• Mental health plans
• Obstetrics and gynaecology: Taking patient history,
• Antenatal and postnatal care, pap smear test, pre pregnancy counselling
• Radiology: interpret X-rays
Qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience
• Primary medical degree
• Eligible for registration with the AHPRA
• CPR certificate
• ALS certificate
The doctor will be expected to provide reports to solicitors and insurance companies in a timely fashion.
In addition to the core competency standards, the doctor is expected to comply with relevant legislative, policy/protocol requirements as they relate to:
- The supervision requirements as set out by the AHPRA.
- Occupational health and safety requirements as an employee.
