PRIMARY PURPOSE
This position provides specialist assessment and ongoing care of young people with acute and chronic primary care and adolescent health issues at the Acmena Youth Justice Centre in Grafton. This position will provide a fortnightly clinic session of up to 6 hours a fortnight.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Current registration with Medical Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Be responsible for the provision of specialist clinical care in the area of adolescent health/primary care/general practice to young people in Acmena Youth Justice Centre in line with organisational needs, best practice, legislation and NSW Health and Network Policies.
- Ensure that the service provided to young people is of high quality. This includes comprehensive history taking and examination supporting suitable diagnostic formulations and management plans, timely and responsible referral to other health professionals, adequate recording of clinical information in the medical record and elsewhere as required, following correct procedures for prescribing medication and ordering investigations and comprehensive discharge planning in consultation with the multidisciplinary team.
- Be involved in the teaching and supervision of any junior medical staff and medical students as negotiated with the Clinical Director Adolescent Health.
- Participation in performance review process as per organisational requirements, and professional development in accordance with professional requirements.
