Werin Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Practice Nurse in the Port Macquarie Hastings area and help us ‘Close the Gap’ in Aboriginal Health.
Key Selection Criteria
- Registered Nurse (NSW) with a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience
- Current registration with APHRA
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and culture and awareness of issues that may impact them.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Demonstrated high-level of nursing practical and clinical management within a comprehensive primary health care context
- Demonstrated ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team and ability to establish effective working relationships within a wide range of disciplines and with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills and ability to manage negotiation and conflict resolution processes
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to work independently
- Ability to meet deadlines and determine work priorities.
- Knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Ethical Practice, Ethnic Affairs Priority Statement (EAPS) and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
- Must hold and maintain a current Nurse immunisation certificate
- Current NSW Driver’s license, Working with Children’s Check and National Criminal History Check
- Knowledge of Health Assessments, Care Planning (EPC) and/or Aged Care assessment and Medicare guidelines
Desirable
- Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation
- Ability to contribute at a senior level to strategic and business planning and implementation and ability to effectively oversee clinical governance with a multidisciplinary team.
