Registered or Enrolled Nurse
Alstonville Clinic is a highly regarded General Practice located on the Alstonville Plateau. A casual position has become available for a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to become part of our friendly and dynamic team. Ideally, the nurse will be required to be available 5 days per week to cover leave. Various shifts are available.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Current Registration with APRHA as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
- Immunisation Certificate or working towards same
- Proven interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of:

- Minimum 2 years full-time equivalent post-graduate experience in an acute and/or general practice setting

To be accountable for and perform the primary function of a Registered or Enrolled Nurse in assessing, planning, directing and evaluating the care of all assigned patients at Alstonville Clinic.
Specific Nursing Duties (Acute Care Setting)
- Triage
- Wound Care Management
- Venesection
- Plaster application and removal
- ECG
- Holter monitoring
- Phlebotomy
- Spirometry
- Immunisation (childhood, adult, and travel)
- 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- Ear irrigation
- Removal of sutures
- Blood pressure checks
- Provide immediate care for the acutely ill
- Cannulation
- Monitoring Intravenous Therapy
- Iron infusions
- Blood Glucose Monitoring
- INR analysis
- Urinalysis
- BHcG
- Assisting doctors with minor operations and biopsies and other procedures as required
- Health promotion
- Illness prevention
- Antenatal and postnatal care
- Child Health checks
- Mini Mental State Exams
- Visual acuity and Ishihara
- Liaising with hospital, ambulance, community health and allied health professionals
- Monitoring of vaccine stock
- Monitoring medical consumables
- Sterilisation and disinfection
- Preparation for and removal of bio-hazardous materials
- Supervision of medical and nursing students on placement
