NCPHN has accepted an invitation to participate in the DiRECT study, a collaborative project with Diabetes NSW and four other Primary Health Networks.
An exciting role is available for two dietitians with clinical practice experience to lead the implementation of the project in Coffs Harbour and Lismore/Casino.
The primary objective of DiRECT-Aus (Diabetes Remission Clinical Trial-Australia) is to determine whether a program designed to achieve remission of type 2 diabetes to normal glucose tolerance by substantial weight loss can effectively be delivered within the routine primary care setting.
Successful dietitians will work in close collaboration with participating general practices on a part-time basis. Clinical responsibilities include providing health behaviour change techniques for chronic disease self-management, nutrition advice, a structured weight management program and VLED diet, information and materials to participants.
