Northern NSW LHD is seeking referrals of eligible women with a physical disability to their local NNSWLHD women’s health clinic between now and the end of November 2024, to participate in an interview about their experience of self-collection cervical screening services in the NNSW local health district (including Clarence, Richmond and Tweed /Byron Local Government Areas).
Patients are also encouraged to self-refer to participate.
Study population and participants
The study will be conducted in the existing Women’s Health Nurse clinics in NNSWLHD, as well as the homes of people who are unable to attend clinical settings.
Women with a physical disability who attend the Women’s Health Nurse clinics for cervical screening will be invited to participate and share their experiences on self-collection and barriers and facilitators regarding their cervical self-collection screening in regional NNSW.
Eligibility criteria
Women, or people with a cervix, years 25-74 (National Cervical Screening Program criteria 2017), speak English, have a physical disability, are due for cervical screening, attend the Women’s Health Nurse clinic, and opts to self-collect their cervical screening test.
- Participation in the study is voluntary, and written informed consent will be obtained.
- All interview data will remain confidential, and only be used by the team members for this study’s purpose.
- Any identifying information will be removed from the dataset before analysis
- Participants are informed that they may withdraw at any time without reason and without impact on their relationship with NNSWLHD or the researchers involved.
- The participants will have the opportunity to review or edit their responses prior to data analysis.
- No participant will be identified in the production of reports or publications.
