Care finder staff from organisations across the North Coast recently met in Coffs Harbour to discuss how to improve services, learn from each other and undertake training in trauma-informed care.
Care finders are a commissioned service through Healthy North Coast to support vulnerable older people who would not be able to arrange services without intensive support and do not have a family member or friends who can help.
Care finders can help people understand what aged care services are available, set up an assessment and find and choose services. They also help people with access to other supports in the community. They can help with both accessing services for the first time and changing or finding new services and supports.
On the North Coast, 4 organisations are funded to provide this important service: EACH, Carexcell, Lifetime Connect and Footprints.
Healthy North Coast organised the day’s meeting and was impressed by the dedication and expertise of each member of the Care finder teams.
Care finder services are provided at no cost. Referral information is provided on the Healthy North Coast website.
For older people who may need less intensive support to access My Aged Care services, Aged Care Specialist officers provide face-to-face help in 70 Services Australia service centres. Visit the Services Australia website to see where these are located or call 1800 227 475.
