In conjunction with NSW Health and the Agency for Clinical Innovation, the Coffs Harbour Chronic Pain Service is piloting a four-week active self-managed educational program.
The program will consist of eight nurse-led sessions of psycho-education and paced exercise, including current pain neurophysiology and research.
Participants will work in small groups, and it is anticipated that the first sessions will commence in June 2019.
This program will help participants to identify goals, barriers and boundaries and establish crisis management strategies and self-help routines.
GPs are asked to refer appropriate patients to the service, and in return will receive reports and recommendations periodically describing the participant’s progress to assist with follow-up and continued care.
