Speech pathologist Carly Tilley is welcoming referrals to her new mobile practice.
Carly’s practice, Hastings Macleay Speech Pathology, covers the Hastings and Macleay areas. It specialises in adult and aged care services. This includes assessment and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders.
“My area of interest is neurological diseases and disorders,” Carly said. “I’m currently working on two big ideas and services. The first is one-on-one voice treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease, with group therapy for maintenance. It’s an intensive program called Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD ©) and it has loads of evidence to say it improves voice loudness.
“The second is videofluoroscopy swallow studies, which was formerly known as modified barium swallow. This is where we x-ray someone swallowing to figure out what exactly is going wrong with the swallow function.”

Carly is also collaborating with a local physiotherapist to run mobility and voice programs simultaneously.
Hastings Macleay Speech Pathology offers its services to people living in and around Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Wauchope, Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills. Treatment can be arranged for patients in their home, via telehealth, at a suitable location in the community or in aged care facilities.
“It is so important for people to be able to swallow comfortably and safely, and to have a voice,” Carly said. “We use the latest evidence-based treatment and tailor therapy to meet individuals’ needs and achieve their goals.”
