From 1 May 2018, legislation requires Australian Government-subsidised residential aged care providers to offer the flu vaccine to staff and volunteers.
Vaccination is vital for staff and volunteers in aged care, where the flu can spread quickly and have devastating results for residents.
As part of the mandatory vaccination program, residential aged care providers will be required to:
Vaccinations can be offered either directly or indirectly, such as providing vaccinations on-site or making arrangements for staff to access the vaccination at a local chemist or general practitioner.
