The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has published a new guide, Supporting Smoking Cessation, recommending an evidence-based brief intervention for GPs.
The guide addresses common misperceptions that smoking cessation ‘counselling’ takes too long and is unwelcome. See table 1.1 on page 16 of the guide for some revealing evidence about smoking cessation.
Primary Care Impact has a QI activity to embed smoking cessation conversations into routine care. This QI activity can help you to further improve your smoking cessation and Quitline referral rates.
