Insights on Dementia Care on the North Coast (Organisational)
Dementia is one of the fastest growing chronic conditions across the North Coast, reflecting both an ageing population and increasing acuity and complexity of care needs under the AN ACC model. We recognise that supporting residents living with dementia, particularly those with behavioural and psychological symptoms (BPSD) and higher clinical complexity presents an increasing challenge for residential aged care providers.
Healthy North Coast is undertaking this work to better understand current capacity, capability and what support is needed across the system so that older people living with dementia receive the care they need. It will help us advocate for future planning and investment aligned to the realities of delivering residential aged care and the growing need of the population.
We are seeking your input to provide an organisational perspective on:
- Current dementia care capacity
- Capability and confidence across AN ACC classifications and levels of need
- Opportunities and constraints for expanding care for residents with more complex needs
