Increase in self-harm or suicidal ideation presentations to emergency departments from 2020 to 2021
In 2021, self-harm or suicidal ideation presentations to NSW emergency departments were up 16% in MNC, and 5% in NNSW from 2020.
The highest increase was experienced in the 12-17-year-old age group with a 37% increase in NNSW and 27% increase in MNC.
