Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) on the North Coast NSW
Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) provide a range of culturally appropriate health and wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on the North Coast.
This includes services and care for pregnancy, child health, diabetes, heart disease, mental health, counselling, nutrition and dental, as well as access to GPs and specialists. Many have community-based programs for men’s and women’s health, chronic disease management, drug and alcohol issues and mental health.
Each ACCHO offers different services so it is best to contact your local service to find out what programs and services are available.
Healthy North Coast and 6 North Coast Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations established the Healthy North Coast Aboriginal Health Partnership in 2023, marking a crucial milestone in improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the North Coast.

In addition to the programs delivered by your AMS, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can also contact:
- 13YARN on 13 92 76 – A free and confidential 24/7 helpline delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals, offering culturally safe mental health and crisis support.
- Head to Health on 1800 595 212 – A free phone service available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, providing mental health support and guidance to connect you with the right services.
- Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511 – Available 24/7, this helpline offers access to acute mental health services, providing immediate support for people in distress or crisis.
