North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) is pleased to announce that it has provided funding to assist the management and activities of the Tweed/Byron Local Suicide Prevention Steering Committee. This activity is part of the Federal Government’s National Suicide Prevention Trial.
As part of the trial, the Black Dog Institute’s Lifespan model is being used to inform localised responses to suicide prevention. The Lifespan model is an evidence-based integrated approach to suicide prevention. It combines nine strategies aimed at building a safety net for the community by connecting and coordinating new and existing interventions and programs, and building the capacity of the community to better support people facing a suicide crisis.
Seeking GP Input
The Tweed/Byron Suicide Prevention initiative is seeking GP input into the identification of needs, opportunities and priorities for suicide prevention in the Tweed/Byron Shires. A key focus of the initiative will be to identify what additional support GPs require when individuals present with suicidal ideation, as well as the area of crisis and after care.
The Family Centre is seeking to engage professionals and individuals with a breadth of expertise and lived experience in this workshop.
