To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, entry into Queensland is currently restricted for residents of NSW and ACT.
Border residents are permitted to enter Queensland, but must remain in a designated border zone. Check this map of border zones.
Accessing Health Services in Queensland
NSW residents living outside the border zone can still enter Queensland to obtain specialist health care. Eligible residents must apply for a Queensland Border Declaration Pass (General). Click here to learn more.
At the border, you will need to present a copy of your border pass as well as a letter from your specialist with the details of your appointment.
Patients attending a day appointment will not be required to quarantine but must leave Queensland immediately following their appointment.
Further details are available in this media release from NSW Health.
Telehealth is also a great option for those who require access to health services. Many general practices, allied health and specialist services are now available via telehealth. Please speak to your GP about this option.
What else can I do?
Limiting travel is only one tool available to us in the fight against COVID.
The best defence against COVID is to continue to practise physical distancing and good hand hygiene. Take care around people with an increased risk of COVID-19 infection.
Get tested even if you only have the mildest symptoms such as fever (37.5 ° or higher), cough, sore or scratchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or loss of taste. Follow the directions to self-isolate until you are advised by a health professional that you can end self-isolation.
Community members are also advised to wear a mask in situations where physical distancing is not possible. Click here for more information on when to wear a mask.
