The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program (PRP) at Port Macquarie Base Hospital is now a rolling intake program. Participants can commence the program any week of the year (apart from a downtime period of three weeks over Christmas).
Port Macquarie Base Hospital aims to deliver prompt and timely access to the eight-week exercise program, avoiding previous delays to commencement.
A survey was recently conducted by clinicians across the network to determine awareness of the PRP. Responses indicated that:
- Many clinicians were aware of the PRP.
- The majority of clinicians knew what type of people benefit from the PRP.
However… - An overwhelming number of clinicians were unaware of referral criteria or how to refer potential participants.
