Seasonal influenza information
Due to the early release of some influenza vaccines and unseasonably high flu activity, NSW Health has begun distributing Fluad (≥65 year olds) vaccine to nursing homes and general practices.
Initial GP orders will comprise Fluad (≥65 year olds), Afluria (≥5 to 64 year olds) and FluQuadri (3 years to < 5 years). Delivery of FluQuadri Junior (6 months to <3 years) is expected to start in mid April.
The 2019 flu posters can be ordered from the Better Health Centre. Digital banners are also available for social media pages.

Australian Immunisation Register
MedicalDirector Clinical and PracSoft requires all patients to have a Medicare card number listed in their patient record. This allows for immunisation encounters to be transferred to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) via the practice software. This includes Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) card holders. All DVA card holders do have a Medicare card number and this information can be accessed from the Department of Human Services or via PRODA (if the PRODA account holder has the right access levels).
For those people who do not have a Medicare card number, the individual immunisation encounter needs to be detached from PracSoft and recorded on AIR via the AIR site. Practices should contact MedicalDirector for further information regarding failed AIR submissions.
