The Healthy Towns Casino Community Action Plan was launched in February 2020 in Casino’s newly refurbished Oak Centre.
Momentum Collective has partnered with Healthy North Coast to deliver the Healthy Towns program and help improve the health and wellbeing of the whole community.
The Casino Community Action Plan outlines community driven activities that Healthy North Coast is funding. The funding has a focus on youth and aims to build resilience and community participation.
Key initiatives under the plan are:
- Youth leadership program
- Young people’s film festival
- Health and wellbeing education
- Cultural and reconciliation activities
- Community kitchen project
- Outdoor gym equipment activation – free community exercise sessions
- Queen Elizabeth Park walk/run
- Local walks health promotion
- Health and community transport
In Casino the Healthy Towns program is delivered by Healthy North Coast in partnership with the Northern NSW Local Health District and Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation. The program is supported by funding from the Australian Government.
