Healthy North Coast’s Workforce Development team have been collaborating with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) by engaging with Regional Training Hubs/ Rural Clinical Schools across the North Coast and offering support and early exposure to training programs for medical students.
Most recently, Healthy North Coast were delighted to attend and collaborate at social, training and networking events held by ACRRM on 21-23 March at Aanuka Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour.
A networking dinner was held on Thursday 21 March which provided opportunities to hear about all the positive training experiences from ACRRM Registrars. The dinner allowed many introductions to the HNC workforce development strategies and in-person meets with GPs, supervisors, medical educators and the Academic Leader Clarence Valley Regional Training Hub, along with the ACRRM registrars.
On Saturday 23 March, supervisor training took place which provided HNC Primary Health Coordinators an understanding of the supervisor and registrar exam requirements. This training was followed by a networking lunch where further discussions took place with interns who are local to Coffs Harbour, and interested in Rural Generalist training.
Mandy Reid, ACRRM Partnership Development Lead was also given a warm welcome to the Coffs Harbour office and shown the facilities and office space that may be available for future ACRRM education and meetings.
The Workforce Development team are now undertaking further analysis for Workforce Planning & Prioritisation (WPP) reporting regarding workforce needs and training capacity. This report allows advocacy for our GPs, supervisors, registrars, and community directly to DoH, RACGP and ACRRM.
